Short Notes:

  • Chandragupta I is known as the Founder of the Gupta Empire (because he was the first ruler of consequence in the Gupta Empire). But Sri Gupta was the first ruler and Chandragupta I was his grandson.
  • Uthiyan Cheralathan was the first recorded King of the First Chera Dynasty and Kadalpirakottiya Vel Kelu Kuttuvan was the greatest king of the Chera Dynasty who is mentioned as the mythical hero of the famous Tamil Epic Silapathikaram. His Navy at the time was believed to be the best Navy in the world. He was the first king to send an embassy to China from South India. The last King of the Chera Dynasty was the Rama Varma Kulashekhara Perumal who converted to Islam and established the first mosque in India.
  • Haryanka Dynasty's Udayin - founder of the city of Pataliputra, the modern-day Patna.
