Padma Awards are one of India's highest civilian honors and are divided into three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.
Art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medical, literature and education, sports, and civil service are among the disciplines/fields of endeavor recognized by the Padma awards.
Every year, the awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day.
The President has accepted the conferral of 106 Padma Awards for the year 2023, including three pair instances (the Award is considered as one in a dual case), as shown in the list below. There are six Padma Vibhushans, nine Padma Bhushan, and 91 Padma Shri Awards on the list.
19 of the recipients are women, while the list also contains two foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and seven posthumous awardees.
The Padma Awards are bestowed by the President of India during ceremonial festivities held at Rashtrapati Bhawan in March or April of each year.
